More About Me
Hi I'm Sue
I've been self-employed in the field of mental health and wellbeing since 1989. I have trained in many disciplines to find as many ways possible to help my clients. I am predominantly a qualified Psychotherapist and also an experienced Life-Coach. In addition to counselling and hypnotherapy I use a brilliant approach known as Clean Language and Metaphor. I offer solution-based therapy because I want to help you achieve your physical, psychological and emotional goals.
Other than teaching yoga this is my full time work and I have a lot of experience. More importantly I am lucky enough to have found my vocation in life - I love what I do, my passion is to serve others, to enable people to grow, develop and find peace and happiness in their lives.
It is my drive in life to empower others and enable them to find inner peace. That is the underlying ethos in the way I practise as a therapist, teacher, trainer and businesswoman. My desire is to support and facilitate others who want to take charge of their lives and enjoy good health.
WHAT I DO
If you don't know what you want I'll help you establish a clear definable goal. With that established I coach you toward it and use the skills and techniques necessary to remove obstacles to that goal. In my experience these goals are usually emotional and easy to dissolve.
I offer supervision for therapists.
I work as a consultant and trainer for companies to develop and deliver training on Stress Management, Assertive Skills, and other areas of training and development.
In the early 90's I was a co-founder of one of Britain's leading Employee Assistance Programmes. As head of Clinical Counselling Services I was responsible for the training and recruitment of counsellors. As such I also have a wide experience of telephone counselling and coaching .
My approach is eclectic, I will draw on any number of approaches to help you to reach your desired outcome. I personally favour the work of David Grove, Clean Language Metaphor work which I trained in in 1991 and have used with success ever since. My preference for this technique is because it is respectful of and empowering to the client and usually brings rapid changes.
I have an Advanced Diploma in Hypnosis and Psychotherapy with the National College and am a full member of the National Register of Hypnotherapists and Psychotherapists. I am registered with the United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapy. I hold a Diploma with the British Wheel of Yoga and I am qualified to observe teaching practice.
Running training programmes for some of the largest companies in the UK I have worked extensively in the field of stress management since 1989. I have a special interest in helping companies develop policies and training in the management of stress.
My personal and professional development is ongoing and I have had the privilege of training with some of the world's greatest teachers in the field of modern psychology and communication skills, such as David Grove, Richard Bandler, Paul McKenna and John Grinder. I am also qualified and registered as a Neuro-Linguistic Practitioner.
Throughout my late teens and early twenties I seemed to be permanently unwell, culminating in a collapsed lung three times over a two year period. I was also often miserable without really knowing why. The last period in hospital was a defining moment in my life (I have had many) and I came back from surgery with a full clear knowledge that I had to live my life differently.
I began to change my lifestyle and habits with the help of hypnotherapy and other psychological tools. I became more positive and began to feel more in control of my life. I changed my direction completely and retrained to become a therapist.
I have always been motivated by the desire to help empower other people to let others know that you don't have to be 'stuck' that it really is possible to change the way you think, feel and behave. That's the positive message change is possible.
